Gary Hawley

Artist Statement I love working with my hands. I began as a woodworker, moved on to jewelry making and then became a metalsmith. Living in Oaxaca, Mexico with its folk art and elaborate cathedrals allowed me to step out of the constraint of defining my work using one medium. My current work merges these three, allowing their synergy to guide me in the design and creation of each piece. I use various combinations of Sterling silver, hardwoods and gemstones in pieces that are both decorative and functional; I hope you enjoy the alchemy in the art.
